Suzanne De Passe: From Motown to Media Mogul

Suzanne De Passe, co-chairman of de Passe Jones Entertainment Group, has a net worth of $40 million. Her career began at Motown, where she served as Creative Assistant to Berry Gordy. De Passe’s contributions to Motown included bringing the Jackson 5 to Gordy’s attention and taking the record label to television. She eventually became the CEO of Motown Productions, managing the careers of Lionel Richie, Rick James, and the Commodores, among others.

After Motown was sold in the 80s, De Passe partnered with Gordy to establish Gordy/de Passe Productions and later de Passe Entertainment. In addition to her television work, De Passe has lectured at Harvard Business School and served as the Producer-in-Residence at Emerson College. Her executive producer credits include “Sister, Sister,” “Smart Guy,” and “Showtime at the Apollo.”
