Personal Statement
Hello Coaches. I first want to thank you for taking the time to look at me for the opportunity to possibly play for your school. I have been playing baseball since I was 5 years old. My mother is my biggest fan and the one who has inspired me and encouraged me to play the game I so love. Baseball is in my blood, as my grandfather played for the Milwaukee Braves back in the 1950's, being drafted out of Sacred Heart with a pitching 3 year ERA in high school of .50. My two older brothers also played since they were young, high school and into college, so I grew up around it and it is a true passion of mine. I was in Little League since 10 years old catching, playing 3rd base and outfield. My collegiate goals is to play in college and get the opportunity to play in the MLB. I am a great candidate for your team, because what I learned from my family and coaches is a work ethic far from what others have. I work to improve myself everyday, hustle, listen to what the coaches have to say and am open to new ways to improve my skills. I have been working with a batting and catching coach to always improve myself and my ability. I have overcome hardships, as my father left when I was 4 1/2 years old and has not returned since then, so my coach, mentor and teacher has not only been my little league, travel team and high school coaches, it has been my mother. She knows more about the game then anyone I know. She expects nothing but making sure I gave it my all (she always says, play each game like it is your last, but have fun also) and that is a huge part of why I am the player and young man I am today. With regards to my academics, I am an excellent student in the top 5% of my class. My academics are the first most important thing to me, so earning a degree while playing baseball in college is key because without an education, I am nothing after baseball. What makes me different from other recruits that I have been told is my size for my age. my strength, speed, arm and my bat power. I hope you consider me for your school and I look forward to either talking to you or meeting you someday. Robert
