TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Putu Mayang is an Indonesian sweet snack that can usually be found in traditional markets. Made of processed rice flour, Putu Mayang has a unique shape of noodles in several soft colors. The cake is usually served with palm sugar syrup. Here, Tempo outlined the recipe and how to make it.
Ingredients:
-150 gr of rice cake
-1 tbsp sugar
-½ tsp salt
-300 ml coconut milk
-50 gr of sago flour
-Drops of green food coloring
Sweet sauce:
-500 ml of coconut milk
-1/4 tsp salt
-5 pandan leaves
Brown sugar syrup:
-125 gr of brown or palm sugar
-50 ml of water
-1 pandan leaf
How to make it:
Mix the rice flour, sugar, salt and coconut milk in a pot. Cook it until it becomes dough. Add sago flour while stirring it. Divide the dough into several parts, add few drops of the food coloring, then knead the dough evenly.
Put the dough in the mold, press it and shape it in rounds. Steam the round-noodle shape of dough for 15 minutes and set aside in a bowl.
Sauce: Boil all the sauce ingredients with low heat until it boils, set aside.
Syrup: Boil the syrup ingredients until it thickens and set aside.
Lastly, serve Putu Mayang in a bowl, pour it with the sauce and palm or brown sugar syrup. And, enjoy!
