Our Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Auntie, Cousin, and dear Friend
Our Beloved Pat departed this life for eternal rest on Friday April 1, 2022 at the age of 69. Patricia Ann Gill was born on September 23, 1952 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Henry “T-Baby” Wilson and Evelyn Hicks. Having 5 older brothers, she was the oldest daughter of 11 children. Patricia’s late Aunt, Lucille Moss raised her as her own. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Venisha Gill, Brothers: Samuel Lee Bynum, Allen Foster, Ray Hicks, and John “Stacy” Hicks.
Patricia received her education through Norfolk Public Schools; attending Virginia’s first accredited high school for African Americans, Booker T. Washington HS. She later acquired studies for Nursing Assistant and worked at DePaul Hospital. Soon after, she met the love of her life Martin L. Gill. They were married for nearly 49 years and were blessed with two beautiful daughters; Chantelle Hunter and the late Venisha Gill. Having a love for children, Patricia opened an in-home daycare. Patricia later joined Calvary Revival church in Norfolk. Her nurturing spirit couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work at the Calvary Academy of the King as an After Care Assistant. Long before the company closed, in her free time she was also a dedicated Distributor for Home Interior.
Patricia was a gentle sweet spirit who loved her family dearly. She found joy in planning weekend outings and always knew about the latest happenings around town. You didn’t have to worry about being bored when she was around. People loved Patricia’s cooking and she would spend hours preparing her delicious dishes and delectable desserts. She also had hobbies that she enjoyed. Whether it was taking ceramic classes or learning cake decorating at Norfolk Vocational Center, Patricia loved that it afforded her the opportunity to meet new people.
Although she was faced with health challenges, Patricia‘s joy was being a blessing to others in any way she could. She never allowed her health to define her life; she was a warrior of strength to the end. We can all learn from her legacy of strength, courage, compassion, and faith.
She will forever be loved by those left to cherish her memory. Patricia is survived by her husband, Martin “Mike” Gill, daughter: Chantelle Hunter, Son-in-Love: Monquez Hunter, Sisters: Trina Foster, Freda Foster, Delores Williams, Kim Hicks, Brothers: Steven Foster (Valerie), Gary Bell (Patricia), Grandson: Marquez Brown, Great-Grandson: Kaison Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.
