Michael Platt is a British businessman who co-founded BlueCrest Capital Management, an alternative asset management firm. With almost a decade of experience at JP Morgan, Platt teamed up with Williams Reeves in 2000 to establish the company. BlueCrest Capital Management has since grown to become one of Europe’s largest hedge funds, accumulating $35 billion in assets under management. The company has offices in London, New York, Boston, Geneva, and Singapore.

In 2011, Platt bought out his partner’s share and even the minority owner Man Group, for $633 million. However, in 2013, his multi-strategy BlueCrest International fund reportedly lost 1.57%.
