Personal Statement

Ever since I started playing baseball when I was 8 I fell in love with the sport. I saw MLB players on TV and knew that that could be me one day, so I practiced, hard. I wasn't very good at that age but I had a passion for it. I was determined to become the best player I could be and because of this drive I've improved tremendously, although I still have a long way to go. On season and off I'm always staying active. I play soccer in the fall and baseball in the spring, summer, and fall. Over the winter I train for baseball by going to the gym 3-4 times a week along with going to the YMCA to practice and improve fielding. Hitting the batting cages every couple weeks is a must.  I also go to sports-zone, a local baseball camp, over Christmas and mid-winter break.

On the field, I am a very fast base runner and play solid defense. My arm is strong, my glove is good and I can read where the ball will be. I can hit for extra bases, and I excel at stealing bases. I draw a lot of walks based on my good eye for balls and strikes. My strongest area while playing baseball is base running, and hitting. During the summer of 2015 In my North Syracuse Babe Ruth Baseball and RBI Syracuse leagues starting in May/June, I had 28 singles, 4 doubles, 2 triples, 21 stolen bases without getting caught once, 24 RBI's, 34 hits total, my batting average was .693, scored 23 times, was walked 7 times, hit by 2 pitches, struck out 6 times and had 62 at-bats. I worked hard all year to maintain and improve my skills on the baseball field.

Every time I go anywhere, from school bus rides to family trips, I'm always inspired by the architecture of the many buildings I see. I first wanted to be an architect when I saw the city of Dubai for the first time. I was fascinated by all the different architectural designs and techniques I could see.  Now I am taking an architecture class with an average of 98%, and I also take a design drawing for production class with an average of 96.9%. Both my performance in these classes and my interest in the field has inspired me to study architecture in college.  My main goal is to play college baseball along with doing so, and eventually play baseball at a professional level.  My science grades fluctuate from low to mid 80's, math grades from mid 70's to mid 80's, history from low 80's to low 90's, Health high 90's, and English from low 80's to mid 90's.  With hard work and dedication, I'll purse my college degree, and I will get it. With that same hard work and dedication, I'll pursue a career in the MLB. Sound crazy? Not to me, because I know that if I try my best, and play my heart out day in, day out, anything is possible. I refuse to settle for anything less then the best.
