Personal Statement
My name is Baylee Holt from Hartselle, Alabama. I’m 16 years old and in my junior year at Hartselle High School. I’m 5 feet 6 inches tall and weigh 150 pounds. I play on the Hartselle High School Lady Tigers Varsity team. As of 3/31/12 and 25 games into the season, I have a batting average of over 0.500 and 5 homeruns. Also, I've been selected to participate in the 2012 Alabama High School All-Star Sports Week for the the North Team. My strengths and accomplishments are:
Hitting– Batting is one of my strong suits. I normally bat in the top four of the line up and my strike-out to at-bat ratio is low.
Fielding - I have played shortstop, third base and second base. I move to the ball with a fluid motion and have a strong throwing arm.
Work Ethic – During the off-season, I work-out with weights and go to the batting cage.
Academics – I’m an honor student and take AP courses. My current GPA is 4.035 / 4.0 (weighted).
Most Exciting Accomplishment: Played on the United Sates Fastpitch Association (USFA) World Series Championship team in 2009.
I’ve been playing softball since I was five years old. I started with the Dixie Softball organization and played infield positions such as short stop, second base and third base. When I was 10 years old, I started playing on travel tournament teams. In 2009, I played shortstop on the 14 year old Huntsville Sparks and we won the USFA World Series Championship in Panama City Beach, Florida. This was my most exciting accomplishment in my travel ball playing experience. In 2010 and 2011, I played on travel teams that either won the tournament or finished in the top teams.
I play for the 5-A Hartselle High School Lady Tigers. During my first year as a freshman, I was moved up from JV to Varsity. My greatest contribution to the team was in my batting skills. During my freshman year, I hit four (4) homeruns. During my sophomore year, I was one of only two sophomores that played on the varsity team. I had a .407 batting average during my sophomore year. My goal is to receive a college degree in a medical or health related field. I hope to utilize my skills in softball to help me go to college and take some of the financial burden off my parents. Geographically, I’m not set on any particular location and want to keep my options open to all school locations and school sizes.
