Andrey Ternovskiy: Creator of Chatroulette

Andrey Ternovskiy is a Russian entrepreneur who created Chatroulette, a web site that pairs random strangers from around the world for webcam-based conversations. Ternovskiy came up with the idea while attending high school in Moscow, Russia, where he was a frequent user of Skype to chat online with friends. The name Chatroulette was inspired by the 1978 movie The Deer Hunter, in which prisoners of war are forced to play Russian roulette.

At the age of 17, Ternovskiy created Chatroulette and quickly gained international attention for the site’s unique concept. Today, Ternovskiy has a net worth of $2 million from his creation of the popular web site.
